WestWind Foundation position on federal climate change policy
Congress has begun debate on the best means of curbing U.S. carbon and greenhouse gas emissions, which, if left unchecked, will lead to catastrophic destabilization of the Earth’s climate system. While many options exist to decrease overall emissions, it is the position of the WestWind Foundation that the best policy option, in terms of achieving necessary emissions reductions, supporting consumers facing increased energy costs, and providing incentives for non-fossil energy, is a Cap and Dividend strategy.
